King Cakes!

If you have a full time job I don't recommend baking after 6pm, especially when baking breads that require yeast and rising.

The top one had a cream cheese filling and the bottom one had a raisin, pecan brown sugar (raisins plumped in good scotch - didn't have bourbon). Not perfect, but they tasted good and I had fun!
Anyway, 2 nights 2 King Cakes!

More in January!

Owen, Amanda and Wyatt came over for dinner this past weekend!

Sam was in charge of Dinner this past weekend. He fixed a dish that he's done before. It's fish in a dome of salt. Yep, that's what that picture is! There is a sea bass baked in about 5-6 lbs of kosher salt. It is amazingly good! He first had this dish in Turkey, came home and told me about it and I wasn't real sure about tasting such a thing. I found his first recipe in a carb light cookbook, this time he cooked it using a Alton Brown recipe!

Staying up late tonight, just finished making a King Cake using a Chef Lagasse recipe, the other has to sit over night in the fridge it's a FoodNetWork recipe. Hopefully the flyball team get's to taste them this weekend!

Just January

I really love living in Texas. It means not having months of snow, or just 1 temperature all year round. Here in Texas you have temps in the teens, and just 2 weeks later you have flip flop weather!

Temps in the teens is a little unusual to last several days but that's what we had earlier this month, the pond got a sheer sheet of ice on it...never thought I'd see that! Oh, and those are decoys in the pond.

I also went to New Mexico this month and spent a long weekend with Ryley (and family), I know Mimi's brag but oh my goodness he is so smart! He can add, 3 digit plus 3 digit numbers, and he has started reading. Ryley had me doing Math problems at 7 in the morning, yes me and math! He did try and teach me Wii games, I'm a Wii failure (except for bowling) and for all the bad things I might say about NM, I can't say enough about the program he is in, in a public school (plus his parents haven't done bad). I didn't haul my camera with me, so I have to wait for someone to send them to me!

Found out this week we are going on an Italian Holiday in May with friends Julien and Jill.

This January is already 100% better than than last January. So I'm thinking this is a good sign for a great year.

And today (1/19) I have worked at Chem Coast for 24 years!

Enough, bla, bla, bla...........

January 2010!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We worked the 31st, and went to The Palm for an early dinner. OMG I had the New Year's Eve LOBSTER! (I got the 3 lb one)It was soooo good! Then back home to protect the dogs from the out in the country fireworks! It's one thing to have a beautiful firework but some of these are just a loud cannon noise!

The 1st over to Mom's for our black eye peas and cabbage.

The 2nd, Sam went off with a few flyball teammates today to a training session in Dallas. It was time for Prank to see another venue to train in!

I stayed home, did Mom stuff, and now making whole wheat bread and drinking vanilla rum and coke!

No New Year's resolutions for me to break, just a couple of new goals!

HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

December

2009 is so yesterday, but I still have no idea where it went!

Christmas Eve started with Wyatt's first Christmas! It's so nice that he has a Mom that can knit him a hat/cap for every occasion!

Christmas Day started off with Mimosa's, hmmmm goood! Followed by brunch, and opening gifts...sure I got an iphone, a new ipod, boots and stuff...BUT I got a TS 3000 Fat Boy propane torch!!! WOOOHOOO, and more Mimosa's!

The Day after Christmas Keegan made the trip over (brought his parents too), and that made for a great day!

Now on to 2010, hope I can keep up this year!
