August - the nice cool month!

I've been playing Susie Homemaker or I guess these days it would be called Martha Stewart?

Pears on the coast, or at least mine are ready now instead of the fall.  Not so many this year, but enough to give away, and to try my hand at more canning, this time in a light syrup, and making pear butter this year.  I improve every time I can something...but I make the biggest mess in the kitchen when doing so!  Thank goodness I have a good sous chef and dishwasher.

August is also the month they harvest Hatch Chilies in New Mexico, so we did 50 lbs of hatch chilies on the grilled and 50 lbs = 18 lbs of seeded and peeled peppers to freeze (and give away).  That was about 4.5 hours on Sunday evening.  Sam also bought be a "Chili Ristras" of red peppers sooooo, now I have Red Chili Sauce in the freezer, the base of making other good stuff like enchilada red sauce!   Next I have to make the Green sauce!

I've heard my Uncle say "he just ain't right in the head" - I've been saying that about myself this month!

Another big happening for August, Ella turns "5"!

Oh my gosh, busiest month of the year so far! 

Krack celebrated his first Birthday!  

Keegan and Ella came over and spent a week before moving to Florida.  So a day at the fun center in Webster, the Zoo along with swimming and fishing.  Got into the Zoo with Wyatt's zoo pass!

Of course the Houston World Series of Dog Shows - woohoo!  3 teams on Friday for us, and 4 Sat/Sun we stayed busy, but it was great because my favorite people always show up.

Week after picked up Keegan for a visit!  Back to the fun center in Webster, his all time favorite the Galleria and the movie....swimming included everyday!

So a month of having fun, and very little work!  So on to August, back to practice and dog sitting for friends!
