First Day of Spring....brrrrrrrrr

Wow, got the garden planted last week and now we're facing a freeze this weekend!

What a great week, Spring Break 2010! Ryley and Sarah came to town. Picked them up Sunday the 14th and didn't stop until they left on the 19th. Monday was the Houston Livestock Show, Aunt Mary went with us and we met up with Aunt Amanda and Wyatt. We didn't see much livestock, but Mary, Sarah and Ryley rode carnival rides. Ryley even rode his first roller coaster!

Tuesday we went to the Downtown Aquarium, not very impressed and had lunch at the near by Hard Rock Cafe, can't believe that Sarah had never been to a Hard Rock (how did I let that happen?)!

Wednesday, Happy St. Patrick's Day! Granny Pat, Aunt Jo & Uncle Gary came over for Corn beef and cabbage, and Irish Soda Bread. I can safely say the way that Ryley is sitting in the chair is genetic and that picture could have easily been Nicholas!

Thursday was off to Space Center Houston, lots of hands on stuff. Remember on spring break where every you go, GO Early, it's the only way to go! And finally off to the airport on Friday, Ryley and Sarah back to New Mexico!

We did miss the other Grandson, Keegan but he was off with his other Granny - Neecie having a good time! Spring Breaks are good when you get to go to Granny's, Mimi's, Neecie's or whatever your name is!!

Now to cross fingers that it doesn't freeze my little plants in the garden!

March!

Wow, 2 weeks into March! It was awesome today!

You can see that the palms (or you can't see the palms) around the pool. The freeze that lasted several days wasn't nice to them, I hope they grow back.

You can also see the Eastern Blue Birds returned, and there is always a line at the bird feeder buffet! Ok, to tell you how dorking i've become, I paid for an iPhone application on birds, really sad!

Finally got a garden started! Sam planned, and build the garden, I did the planting. Tomatoes, 2 kinds of squash, 2 kinds of bell peppers, and of course jalapenos, blue lake green beans, chives, basil and swiss chard. Now if the birds, squirrels, raccoons, and wild pigs don't get in it....

Sam did bring up a good point, about when things would be ready and based on calculations the first veg to be ready will be the week we leave on our trip, and the other things to follow! House and dog sitters have already volunteered to do the picking!

Spring break for me this week! Ryley and Sarah came to town! So off to the Livestock show tomorrow, and a fun filled busy week with Ryley!
